8th September 2007: Wow! What a night! We have so many thanks and acknowledgements to do, but suffice to say David Brettell, the local auctioneer who gave his services for free, was absolutely superb, and we could not recommend him highly enough.

Thanks to the generosity of all concerned with their donations, their time, and their money, we have raised an incredible total around £7,000!!!

4th September 2007: It's all go this week as we prepare for the main event of our 40th anniversary celebrations!

Our Charity Auction is being held at Newport's Royal Victoria Hotel on Friday night. Local Auctioneer, David Brettell, will begin at 7.30 and will have to work quickly, because the generosity of our clients, our friends, local and national businesses and sports clubs has been overwhelming! Nearly every lot is a combination of donations, and many donations have had to be included in a very attractive raffle simply because we have so many and do not have time to auction them all.

Examples of the 60 superb lots are a week's holiday in a Spanish villa with £100 towards flights, a children's garden playhouse, and ladies hairdressing - for a year! Then there is always an Elvis Presley album signed by 'The King' himself in 1959, various pieces of sports memorabilia, and tickets for dining, attractions and sports events.

All money raised will go to two important local charities, the Newport Cottage Care Centre and Newport SAFER Scheme (Shropshire Ambulance First Emergency Response).

Unfortunately there are no more tickets available, but anyone wishing to make a bid for an item, or wishing to make a live telephone bid, please contact the office before 5pm on Friday.
